Just so you know whoever you are I am a 13 year old Wicked obsessed school girl and happen to have just as good of a taste in musicals as you do. The arts is something that is meant to be enjoyed, interpreted and loved by everyone for different reasons. If you were a true Broadway fan you would recognize that everyone has the right to have their own personal favourites. You telling people what showtunes they should listen to is the same as people telling you that you should listen to pop music. As a broadway community we need to be united together in a mutal love of the theatre understanding that we aren't all going to love the same shows. And guess what - I may be a 13 year old Wicked obsessed private school girl but I'm more of a theatre lover than you'll ever be! If you can't recognize that just because something speaks to you that it isn't as beautiful for everyone else then you haven't yet grasped what theatre is all about. New musicals like Wicked and RENT deserve to be a part of musical theatre history just as much as classic shows do and vice versa. Just because someone is from the younger generation doens't mean that we are airheaded tastless teenagers and can be dismissed that way. Everyone's taste in theatre is great for them. If you can find one song that makes you feel something in your heart then theatre has done it's job. We live for the thrill and obviously you don't care about anyone else's opinion but your own. So I suggest you get off the computer, stop slamming other people's feelings and re evaluate your thoughts. Look into yourself and realise that you might have offended some 13 year old schoolgirl who is obsessed with Wicked and 13 and Les Mis and that maybe you can let those of us who get goosebumps from different shows than you enjoy our theatre instead of hurting our feelings I'm sorry for being so upfront but your comment really offended me. 13 year olds are just as entitled to love the theatre as you are. Wicked is just as great a musical as anything you love and everyone elses opinion is JUST as valid as yours. Signed, A highly accomplished 13 year old Wicked obsessed school girl

I wouldn't nessicarily agree with you on all of these but every Broadway fan has a right to their own personal favourites so I'm not going to argue for certain songs. I would just like to suggest you look into 13 and Little Women - those two shows have really touched me recently and I think you might like them

Some good stuff not on this list: Not a Day Goes By from Merrily We Roll Along; from Ballroom there's 50 Percent (the incomparable Dorothy Loudon through whom you FEEL rather than simply hear the lyrics), and then there's The Party's Over (Judy Holliday - WOW!) from Bells Are Ringing (hard to find, but worth the search).

How is Les Miz overrated? It deserves every bit of adoration it gets! And Why is Phantom of the Opera not in there? Umm... I'd say that almost all the songs in Phantom beat out a lot of the songs in your list... But congrats on making this list - it was appreciated by everyone who loves theatre. As a teenager who really only listens to showtunes, I totally sympathize. As a fellow theatre affecionado, I'd suggest (not because I totally love them) listening to Till I Hear You Sing and Love Never Dies from Love Never Dies. Despite what bad ratings you've heard and the terrible Australian version, Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess CANNOT be paralleled. Just suggesting that cuz I suggest that to anyone who wants to hear some good music - I usually get weird faces but whatever... :)

You have some good taste. I disagree with a lot of it but some of it's nice. I'm really wanting to do my own now. Also, how did Stars from Les Mis not make it? And how is Les mis overrated? Still...at it wasn't ignored. Some others I think you need are "The Book Report" from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and "Sit Down you're Rocking the Boat" from Guys and Dolls. Also.....Hello Dolly?
