Boyz II Men hit “End of the Road” came from the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy’s movie Boomerang. Another hit, P.M. Dawn’s “I’d Die Without You” was also from the soundtrack. Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” was an ode to large female behinds. Eric Clapton wrote “Tears In Heaven” after the tragic death of his 4-year-old son Connor. Schoolboy rap duo Kriss Kross topped the charts with their debut releases “Jump” and “Totally Krossed Out”.

Other newcomers in 1992 who made a splash are Arrested Development, TLC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jodeci and Jon Secada. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” returned to the hit list because it was included in the soundtrack of Wayne’s World. Mariah Carrey’s hit the top charts for the sixth time with “I’ll Be There”. Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart” was the first million-selling country single since “Islands In The Stream” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton in 1983. Richard Marx also scored big with “Take This Heart”.

In 1992, The New Kids on the Block were accused of lip-synching at their live performances in The Arsenio Hall Show. CDs was outselling cassettes, and music sales in the US jumped 15.2% to $9 billion.
