Top Hits of 1960

In the world of top hits oldies music back in the beginning of the 1960’s, rock and roll was on the decline. It was being absorbed into the mainstream, and evolved into something called “Teen Beat”. R&B music, fortunately was still very vibrant and less controllable, thus appealing to both black and white teenagers.

British musicians who are R&B and rock and roll lovers created the Mersey Beat and the British R&B boom. In 1964, America was swooning over the foremost exponents of the Mersey Beat, The Beatles. They also swooned to the music of other British acts, and this music phenomenon is called the British Invasion.

By 1967, rock musicians began taking their music seriously, and they concentrated on releasing albums instead of singles. There was a lot of experimentation that went on which widened the horizon of rock music. It was the decade of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Motown’s many great artists, and countless other performers who laid the ground rules for rock in the last three decades of the century.

The 60s was a time of social unrest, Vietnam war protest, the civil rights movement, and this was reflected in the oldies music of this era.

There was also a lot of musical styles that emerged in the 60’s. Among them were the twist (Chubby Checker), surf music (The Beach Boys), soul (James Brown), bubble-gum (The Royal Guardsmen), psychedelia (The Who), folk rock (Bob Dylan), and other rock-related forms of music. Music that are middle of the road, and ballads also thrived, performed by singers such as Connie Francis and the Everly Brothers. The Sixties is a decade that has improved with age — without doubt an exciting musical era unlike any that had proceeded it.

No matter how much I try I can’t find any trace of a great song I heard in 1964 and actually I bought the seven single. As it was so long ago, my memory is failing to get the right name of the singer and the song title. I think it was called ” Every bit I take ” interpreted by ” All Lington ” . Sorry I can’t remember much but I still remember the song very well. Sometimes I do sing it, thou I’m not that good in singing. I wish you could help find this song which was a great HIT

I have been trying to find two songs I think they are 60 songs, some of the lyrics are:

    1. I know she loves me the way I am, I just want to do more do more if I can
    2. Now I’m in trouble I’m ready in trouble cause I fell income with you

If you could help find these songs I will jump for joy!!!
